What to Do While Waiting for Service
- Turn the system off at the thermostat if you notice burning smells, sparking, or unusual electrical sounds, and avoid touching the unit
- If water is leaking indoors, place towels or a container under the leak and, if it’s safe to do so, shut off the system to limit further water damage
- Keep pets and children away from the outdoor unit or any exposed wiring
- Use fans and close blinds to manage indoor temperature while you wait, rather than attempting to open up or repair the unit yourself
